Long before contact with the European world, civilizations throughout the Americas developed large-scale earthworks in the form of drawings, sculptural imagery, mounds, elaborate embellishments for cave entrances, urban design plans, and solar alignments related to calendrical readings. Professor and art historian Thomas Germano will present a visual lecture on the monumental earthworks created in the Americas in the pre-Columbian era. Registration is underway.
