Plum Island, a federally-owned part of the Town of Southold only a mile and a half off the North Fork, is of national significance for its natural areas, wildlife and plant life, and history and cultural heritage. Louise Harrison, Long Island Project Manager and Senior Science Advisor at Save the Sound, will present a photographic tour of the island, the argument for preservation, and an update on the latest status of the campaign to preserve Plum Island in perpetuity once the Plum Island Animal Disease Center moves to its new quarters in Kansas. Registration is underway.
