Join a park ranger and explore the unique salt marsh vegetation of Fire Island. The extensive roof system enables it to withstand brief storm surges and also buffer storm impacts on upland areas. Fire Island National Seashore includes a considerable amount of salt marsh within its boundaries, which serves as nursery grounds for fish and valuable habitats for wading birds and waterfowl. Registration is underway. This program is cosponsored by the public libraries in the town of Huntington.
