James Cagney is best remembered as a tough guy and gangster in films such as The Public Enemy and Angels with Dirty Faces. He was also a terrific song and dance man, and critics and audiences alike have considered his Academy Award-winning performance as George M. Cohan in Yankee Doodle Dandy to be his best film. His career spanned from vaudeville, musicals, and revues on Broadway in the 1920s, to a forty-year career in films.
